de Witt Consulting supported Richard Crookes Constructions (RCC) again on another large scale multi-storey development project within the heart of Newcastle’s CBD. As always it is a pleasure to work with the professionalism of RCC. The ‘Herald Apartments’ constructed at King and Bolton Streets Newcastle, which was previously occupied by the Newcastle Morning Herald and the Miner’s Advocate; where by the 1890’s a large printing works was established which incorporated residential terraces. In total, the development contains 116 apartments, with a mixed-used retail component and a separate commercial offering in the old Newcastle Herald building, which will specifically retain the sandstone heritage façade.

de Witt Consulting ‘s role within the project team was to provide surveying services and solutions in the way of construction set out, details surveys and as built reporting. We have also utilised our laser scanning technology to capture existing critical information for structural and engineering design particularly associated with existing subterranean adjoining works/foundations accessed via neighbouring basement level carparks and void areas.
