Part 5 Approvals and Crown Development in Newcastle, Hunter Region, Central Coast, Sydney & Western NSW
Certain types of development undertaken by Government departments, agencies, and public authorities (including local councils) can obtain planning approval through different pathways.
State Environmental Planning Policies (SEPPs) may specify a type of work or activity to be “development permitted without consent”. In these circumstances an environmental assessment is required in accordance with Part 5 (Division 5.1) of the EP&A Act. Our planners regularly prepare these environmental assessments, known as a Review of Environmental Factors. Depending on the circumstances, these works can relate to:
- public infrastructure (roads, stormwater, wastewater, water supply, electricity, etc)
- educational establishments, including public schools, registered non-government schools, TAFEs and universities
- parks and recreation
- emergency services
- health services
- waste or resource management facilities.
Crown development applications (Crown DAs) are also available in certain instances. This pathway has its own benefits, including the determination process, conditions of consent, assessment timeframes, etc.
While many find this to be a complex area to navigate, our planners have extensive experience in evaluating approval pathway options for a project.
We are proud of our role in delivering high quality spaces, facilities and infrastructure for the enjoyment and benefit of our local communities.
